Special Containment Procedures: SCP-896 is to be located in a humidity chamber at all times. The humidity level to which SCP-896 is to be maintained is currently 125%, and is not to fall below 75%. No human contact is permitted.

Any research personnel who report signs of distress after three days of contact with SCP-896 are to be quarantined and administered Class-A amnestics.

Description: SCP-896 is a parasol, approximately 26 cm wide and 3 cm deep. On the opposite side of SCP-896's base is a small wooden plaque carved into the shape of a bird (hence the object's name). When SCP-896 is opened, it flies away, presumably due to an unknown force.

SCP-896 produces two anomalous effects upon contact with human beings:

The above effect may be negated by placing SCP-896 in a humidity chamber at 125% relative humidity; however, the amnestics do not prevent its use of its second effect.

Addendum: As of 12/12/05, SCP-896 has been observed flying away at a speed of 10 meters per second. Attempts to speak with it have proven fruitless.
