Description: SCP-982 is a sock, composed of a single thread of wool. The yarn used in SCP-982's construction has been confirmed to have been dyed with the color red; however, the dye has worn off of SCP-982 over time.

When a human being wearing SCP-982 approaches a dangerous situation or an unknown danger, SCP-982 will change color according to the perceived danger level. If the danger level is high enough, SCP-982's color will change from its natural state (purple) to bright red. If further proof of danger is needed, SCP-982 can be pressed against the body of the affected individual and will change in response to the press.
